We are a re-enactment group with a focus on western martial arts We can already hear you ask 'Why would you do that, when we are all trying to focus on authenticity?". The reason, pure an simple, all comes down to NUMBERS. Like most clubs that adopted the "Authentic Nazi" approach we saw numbers of new comers declining steadily in the last decade. This left a few of our clubs very depleted and often with only two left to train against each other. It got boring. Most other clubs will go into academic detail on every issue. We are NOT one of those clubs, we prefer to have fun.

Our only solution? Well I must admit it wasn't our only choice but pride etc can interfere with the best of intentions. We could have joined other clubs and some of us did but eventually the rest of us banded together and slowly over several months a club formed.

What period do we re-enact? Having many people that have come from other clubs doing different periods we ran into the first obvious problem for conventional re-enactors. Fortunately not many among us are all that conventional and it settled all arguments to allow all the periods we currently do and then we can cross over. Some have confessed a desire to try Plate armour and a few would like to adopt some ancient styles and that only means it will be unlikely that we will lock into any one particular period 'as a club'. We understand that this is unorthodox and goes against the common ethos of clubs picking a single period, but what of it, what harm can come from more historical exploration?

The name became obvious! Too many conflicting ideas and previous club names to choose from, but in reality it was easier to consider ourselves as a 'Guild of Clubs' eventually we all grew to like "The Guild" and "Guild" that the name has stuck as a general name for all who have joined.

Internal Political structure We find that between the experienced members there already exists a certain unspoken code. So it is also obvious that we are already structured as a Timocracy. Those of you who know our member Tim Rixon will probably have a good chuckle, but we mean a Timocracy in the same sense that Plato provided us with 'Rule by Honour'.
